George Washington Elementary School Reviews

My son attended Kindergarten at George Washington in 2008-2009. Our experience there was terrible. The administration was unresponsive or unable to address any of our concerns. The curriculum was far behind the neighboring districts. I met some very caring teachers but the overall environment was negative. We never thought we would have to send our son to private school but thought another year in that school would be damaging to him academically, socially, emotionally and physically. I would be very careful about enrolling your child in this school.

My son has been going to George Washington since Kindergarten and he is now in 2nd grade. I must say that I am satisfied with them. I have seen George Washignton progress over the past 3 years. They have added new reading programs for the students and have gotten better with the extracurricular activities but can still use some working on. I would recommend George Washington to any parent thinking of moving to the Alsip area. George Washington facilty and staff show great intreast and concerns about the students.

My daughter attended George Washington for the 2005-06 school year. Her teacher Ms. Joyce was wonderful. I hope my 5 year old gets her when she enters 1st grade. My daughter advanced a lot in her education. Ms. Graham and Ms. Bucki are both great and very helpful. It would be nice to see some sporting/art teams/clubs and field trips, but I'm also very satisfied with the quality of the school now.

My son has been going there for a few months now he's in 1st grade. The teacher quality seems to be OK. I would like to see more extracurricular activities for the kids as far as in field trips and community outings. I was also a little disappointed that for the last few years they haven't adequately progressed in the 'No Child Left Behind Act' as far as in Reading and Math seems like they have some work to do.

My daughter has been in this school for about 1 month Although thats just a short amount of time I have been very please with the school. Ms.Bucki is great the principal is great and so is the kindergarten teacher is on top of her job.

I have two children that attended this school(2003-04) school year. The experience that my children and myself received from this school was shocking for my whole family. The year was an absolute disaster from the beginning to the end. The best part about this school was Mrs. Buckie the school secretary. My children were tormented, sexually harassed, ridiculed(for being smart), and they never felt safe. We had just moved into the area, love our house, and now we are going to move because we can't have another year like we had this last year. The worst experience from a school in all of our lives. I would never recommend this school to anyone, esp. small children trying to succeed at an early age.
