Harnew Elementary School Reviews

it is Dec 08 and there still isn't band, art, music or any extra curricular activities at harnew. they are hoping a referendum will pass to provide funding for this but it is very unlikely at this point.

The teaching staff at Harnew are excellent. Teachers at all levels take the time to know and understand each childs needs. Harnew offers many different programs for children who need extra or special help. An example of this is the Speech Dept. Each child is tested at the start of school and children who need assistance are placed in an appropriate program for as long as needed. We received a new Principal last year who interviewed very well, but has proved to be less than what I feel Harnew has had in the past. There is little or no communication to the parents, discipline is on the rise, school programs have been dropped or changed w/o notice as have extracurricular activities. Assemblies went from 3 to 4 a year to 1 last year. I personally feel very disapointed in choices she's making.
