Edison Elementary School Reviews

Edison has a very diverse environment and my kids love their peers, teachers, and principal. The staff is very attentive because the children are their number one concern.

I would have to disagree with the previous comments regarding the children's behavior...I think that as a parent our goal is not to move out of neighborhoods or choose 'better' schools to work at because the childrens are 'misbehaving'. Our duty as adults is to educate our youth. I would rather have a child misbehave and correct them, than a child that doesn't speak or interact and shoots up an entire school... Edison is a good school, with good teachers, caring staff, dedicated parents and smart students. Study this formula: Parent involvement+Teacher involvement=Better educated and Well-mannered children.

The students and teachers at Edison School are friendly, courteous, and hardworking. The atmosphere when you walk into the school is always inviting. The students and teachers focus attention on learning. They are committed to engaging in learning activities that are challenging and focused on state standards.

I taught as a substitute at this school several years ago. The children were very ill-mannered and no respect for teachers at all. I did not return because it was one of the worst schools I ever worked for. The principal coddled the students and did not support the staff.

This school is terrible, as is evidenced in their test scores. The children graduate from 5th grade and are unable to educationally compete with their peers in neighboring districts. The lack of funds available coupled with lack of direction from the principal and superindendant makes for a complete waste of time. The education my child received here wasnt even as good as she could have received at in the CPS System where at least they have magnet schools. Rather than send my gifted younger child here, I am selling my house and moving to an area populated by more intelligent life forms. -Stephanie Cejka
