West Leyden High School Reviews

As a parent, I must say that all three of my children were given ample information regarding college, and have been encouraged to consider college from day one! As in all aspects of life, opportunities are there but one must seek for them. One cannot expect things to be handed to them.

I am a former student of West Leyden. I feel that the advisors at West Leyden could have been more helpful to students like me who did not know anything about getting into college. College was not held at an achievable goal. I truly feel that West Leyden should encourage all of their students to go on to a four year college. Children entering high school do not have the knowledge of what they need to do to get into a college of their choice. West Leyden students would benefit so much more if they were educated about college admission. I felt that many students were simply overlooked by school counselor/advisors. Encouraging each and every student to prepare for a college education is essential for a successful high school!

The teachers at West Leyden are highly educated and very dedicated to teaching the students the educational skills they need to know in order to go on to college, trade school, or to enter the working world. Most teachers come in early and stay late to help students that are having trouble in their classes. Parents of students who are getting low grades need to step up to the plate and speak to their kids. Some kids, like mine, won't listen, but maybe some will. Their futures are at stake!
