Oakton Elementary School Reviews

I'm the parent of a student in the Kindergarten TWI (Two Way Immersion) program and we love this school. Any hesitation we had coming in has been completely erased. Mr Daniels, the principal, is making things happen: dramatic improvement in test scores and motivated teachers, students, and parents alike. There is a strong, active PTA. Wonderful diversity. Strong community outreach/involvement. It's the type of school that motivates you as a parent to get involved because all of the above.

This is a wonderful school with rich diversity, strong leadership and talented teaching. Our child is thriving in this environment and as well as having confidence in the strong faculty, being surrounded by the very active and enthusiastic parent community is also inspiring.

Oakton elementary is the best school that I have visited in a long time. I am excited and proud to be a parent of a kindergarten student. Mr. Churchill Daniels a breath of fresh air as well as the rest of the staff.

Oakton is great!!!! My daughter has now in 3rd and my son in 1st. The class sizes are small and all the teachers that we have had has been really helpful. When my daughter fell behined in reading she was put into several extra reading help groups both during and after school. The Sat. morning reading and math was was fun for both of my children. Besides that the parents at Oakton are really great and involved even for a working parent they make it easy to comunicate with everyone through email groups. Last year's production of Song of Roland was something I never thought I would see at an elementery school level. And the most important thing is that my kids are happy.

Oakton is a wonderful school. The Principal and vice Principal are very involved and always outside in the morning and afternoon to make sure their students are @ school, and are where they need to be in the afternoon. My son has been @ Oakton since K, and he has had a wonderful learning experience. The Principal request that students read for a 1/2 hour every evening along w/completing their homework assignments. Oakton teachers and staff are great, and are always looking for the wellbeing of their students.

Our daughter is in first grade this year in Oakton's TWI program. We are very happy with Oakton. They have small class sizes, gym and recess everyday and great art, music and library programs. Our daughter feels safe and special at Oakton. We really value the diversity of both the student body as well as teaching staff. Oakton also has a strong PTA.

I don't feel this is a very good school. My daugther has been behind in reading and they still won't get her extra help. They even moved her on to fifth grade, reading on a fourth grade level. Angry parent.

This is a great neighborhood school. The teachers work hard and they care about the students. The principal is very dedicated and works hard to make sure the children are learning in a safe environment. Some of the children have discipline problems, which makes the job harder for the teachers, the principal, and the staff, but I think they deal with these issues very well. The school hosts a variety of activities that are fun for the kids and the whole family. My daughter not only learned a lot, she really enjoyed going to school! Oakton is an excellent school. I highly recommend it.
