Murphy Elementary School Reviews

My son went to Murphy from kindergarden through the 6th grade. He had such a well rounded education at Murphy. And even performed at Ravinia on the Xylophone! He learned to play the guitar a little too! The Arts program cannot be beat! The three R's were also at the top of the list. He did have some problem with reading - the nightmare of any parent. And he got all the help I could ask for at that school. I loved every teacher that he had. The security person, the office people, the food servers, even the maintenance crew are wonderful. And the heads of the school are so dedicated to educating the children! My son left Murphy on the honor roll, a science fair winner and a wonderful citizen.

I have two children in Murphy. The school is great. My one child is now in the 6th grade and will have to leave Muphy as it only goes to the 6th grade. My fear is i will not find another school as good as Murphy. The teachers there are the best. Both of my children are honor students I know its because of the way the school works with each childs needs with there after school programs. All i can say is thank you to the staff at Murphy for being there for the Children.

This is a great school. My daughter had the honor and privilege of attending this school from k-mid 3rd grade. The teachers are excellent and eager to teach. The principal is beyond what one expects a principal to be she has a big heart, open door policy you speak to her she listens with her heart. But one of things I most admired about her is that makes a point to address each child by name. She is a hand on principal she's out there in morning to greet, she out at recess, she out as well to farewell to them at the end of the day. This is a big extended family type of school.

My daughter is in 1st grade and went to full day K, she love going to school and loves to learn. I feel we have been really lucky with the quality of teachers so far. All the teachers seem to really care. The Principal (Dr. Nelson) is excellent with the kids and greets them (by name) each morning and says goodbye each day. I hope grades 2 - 6 are as enjoyable for my daughter.

I am so pleased to have my children in a loving, caring neighborhood school in the city of Chicago! My children have gone from the Murphy education to some of the best high schools in the city. I attribute this to the high quality of staff and administration and complete openness to parental involvement. Of course, the extracurricular activities are what my children are most excited about!

Murphy school is great. My son like to go there. He loves art and since and he really does this at school and learn about this. However be careful with teachers some of them are great some -not really.Principal is an example of wonderful leader.

My son has been at Murphy school for three years now. Test scores aside we have been extremely happy with the school. The administration and teachers are both excellent and top notch. I really like the curriculums they use and the school bends over backwards in terms of reaching out to students and their families. As a smaller school, it is a real find. The school has a well developed music, art and drama program (its a fine arts magnet). It also has gym and recess. Older grades have baseball/softball teams. It is the cleanest school I've ever been in and everyone gets along. Teacher turnover is very low which says a lot about the school to me. As a parent, there is plenty of encouragement/opportunity to be involved if one is so inclined.
