Also the teachers are so involed with the kids this includes sports of any kind, the students learning and safety. The princpal is awesome! there is nothing that any parent/student can't go to her about. She is very experienced in what she does. She transferred from another area school and is adjusting quite well. You can tell that the teachers genuinely care about the students. The school is diverse and the academics are top notch. There are plenty of opportunities for parents to become involved and there are extracurricular activities. Pretty much all of the teachers do an awesome job, we have a lot of really nice extra curricular activites now that we got our addition, and our new principal is doing an awesome job! I think what really helps this school is that the students and the teachers are really enthusiastic about everything. The students are diverse, the teachers are caring and dedicated, and the activities are numerous. The teachers all have their own unique teaching methods which benefits the students by exposing them to different classroom management styles. I would like to see more parental involvement. The teachers at Hamlin always keep the lines of communication open for parents. I would like to see more parents making contact with their child/childrens teachers. Overall, the students at Hamlin have many benefits. The school is semi-small which fosters a sense of community. The activities are getting better and more numerous every year. My son graduated in 2003 and my daughter graduates in June. I have the most respect for Ms Wills and Ms Keller. These two ladies go out of their way to take care of these kids. I can't say enough about them. They deserve so much credit!There are other teachers that do a great job as well and one or two that I think don't understand kids at all.But don't let them ruin it for the rest. Hamlin is #1 in my book, for the best in education. I do wish there were more clubs for the kids to get involed in. Overall, Hamlin is a great school. There are some teachers (not saying who) who kinda dont understand how to teach or to take care of there students but there new and by next year i guarentee that those teachers will have dignity and power over there students! The music program is great! i am part of the band but one thing they need to correct is waking up at 6:30 for morning band! And there is a great level of parent involvement~ the parents help our school so much! thanks parents for volenteering in hot lunch and feild trips and market day and all sorts of thingS! The acedemic programs are ok but some teachers are really mean and are too strict but some times thats good to have power!” Posted By: student Quality Score: 5 2004-10-14 “I am not a parent but I am a student and I am writing this review because I believe that Hamlin Junior High is a great school and the teachers go above and beyond their abilities to teach their students. I am an eigth grader and I know how it feels to be in this school. Alot of great teachers and alot of great students. The Staff is nice and the school is nice. With all the new improvements including a new gym, classrooms, and sports. I am glad to be a part of this school. I recommend this school more than Prairie because we have a better education. I am glad to write this review because I am glad to be a part of this school. The school goes way beyond your expectation!”
