Luther South High School Reviews

Luther South high school is no different from any other small, private schools in Chicago. They have their good days and they have their bad days. Overall the school provides lots of opportunity for learning. They offer Ap classes in Psychology, Literature, and Physics. The extracurricular activities are many such as volleyball, basketball, football, bowling, choir, band, track and field. The kids enjoy a small classroom setting where they are known by name not by number. My child is a freshman this year. We love Luther South!

Luther South is an excellent school for children to learn to be more than a street urchin. My child is doing very well at this school. I thank God that Luther South is in existence. The public schools are killing are kids.

Luther is helping children stay out of the streets. Kids are learning how to become productive citizens at Luther South. I thank God for Luther South. I have a child in Junior High and High School at Luther South. The education they receive is the best my money can buy!

Poorly run School, Very disappointed, no discipline, security is a BIG problem.

I had to opportunity to have two daughters to graduate from this school. Both are doing very well with their education. Their graduations dates are: 1997 & 2002. One attended 7 thru 12 grade and one attended 10 thru 12th grade. The school provides a wonderful environment for students to recieve one on one instructions from the teacher if needed, a close net relations with their peers and a variety of career explosure. If you like small class settings and high on acedimics and like getting involved check out Luther High School South. My 1997 graduate will complete her MBA 2006 and the 2002 graduate will complete her BA in 2006.

My daughter graduated LHS in 2000 and is currently pursuing a masters at Atlanta Tech. My son will graduate in 2007 and is in the Ntl. Honor Society, plays various sports and plans to attend Miami University. In academics I agree LHS is a little behind. But, parents today must not totally rely on any school system to educate children. Get involved.

I am a former graduate of Luther South High School (Class of 1999). I agree with a previous review concerning not being taught enough to get ahead. The cost of this school is ridiculous! If you want to suceed in this school it is definitely about who you know. So your best bet is to know MR. Rainey! THE PRINCIPAL! All in all I give the school a 6 out of 10 because I did like some of the teachers that made being in school worthwhile! Not to forget for graduation the air conditioner was not working. GO FIGURE!

I think Luther High School South is pretty much an o.k. school. I am a 2001 high school graduate. Luther South has its good side and it also has a bad side. The best part about Luther South, I would say, is that it is a small school. There is no way for you to get lost in the shuffle. But there is one thing about Luther South that I can say now that I have left and started my college education; it is that they didn't really prepare me as much as I thought that they had. When I started my first day of college at the University of Illinois, I was amazed to find that the graduates of public schools were way ahead of me. Needless to say, I had to return back to Chicago to attend a two year community college to get on track with my studies.

I think this is a great school for students who feel comfortable in a small environment, and in a Christian environment. For the most part the teachers are nice, and the academics are also good. In my opinion I think the academics are balanced. What I mean is that some classes are harder than others. There are things that go on in the school that needs to be changed and addressed, but it is like every other school. There will always be problems. For the most part I think this is a pretty nice school. If you would like to visit it for yourself you should go there one day and shadow a student.

I am the mother of three daughters , whom attended Luther High School South. The oldest graduated in 1993, then i would have rated the school your highest a 5. The second seem to be as the rest of her class not very good students. My oldest graduating class was 126 students, the second daughter my problem child was no. 57 out of 57 and it was less than that at graduating time(35). She was expel but I had already confirm she was wasting my money. The 3rd daughter like her oldest sister graduated (honor students this daughter was notice )2003. Her class was a number of 33 students. I paid $5,695.00, it was not worth it . The staff and board needs to be investigated. It is about the purse and who knows who. thank you
