St. Benedict Elementary School Reviews

Excellent choice for both me and my daughter. When I drop my daughter off in the mornings, I feel that she is both safe and protected. The overall goals and objectives of the school surpass state requirements... The recent addition of the talented and gifted programs sets them apart from many schools within the south surbubs...great job Mrs. Ry's! my daughter is challenged and looks forward to going to school everyday! Please continue to add programs which speak to the current demographics of the school.

I am a parent of a current sixth grader at St. Benedict. I could not be more happy with the choice that I made to send my child here. They have recently implemented a talented and gifted program, which really raises the schools academic values and concerns. I graduated here, as did my mother and grandparents. Mrs. Rys, the principal truly cares about the students and works extremely hard for the school directly. The tuition rates are affordable and you truly receive what you are paying for. All of the staff, faculty, and administration are the most dedicate people I have ever met. I am beyond happy that my child can grow and muture in such a loving, caring, educational, and ethnically diverse environment. I could not see my children anywhere else but St. Benedict.

My son is a student at St Benedict and he has received a wonderful education there. The school has new programs and recently introduced a program for talented and gifted students. It has a wide spectrum of extra curricular programs including sports and the arts. Additionally, it offers pre-school and before and after programs. The students consistently score well above the national average on standardized testing and the price is comparable to other Catholic grade schools in the Chicago area. Overall it has proved to be an excellent value for us along with providing an environment for his religious faith to develop.

Education below average for the price of tuition. They don't have enough concerned teachers.

i think its a great school and exciting for the students

I love St. Benedict! This is my 5th year teaching Preschool here. Additionally, my mother used to teach here, and both my brother and sister graduated from St. Benedict. This is not only a school, but indeed it is a safe, diverse educational community. There are enough extracurricular activities to peak any child's interest! The curriculum is strong, up-to-date, and in line with Archdiocesan, State, and National standards. I am very proud to teach at St. Benedict! Please check us out!

I'm an alum. I graduate from St. Ben's about six years ago. I thought St. Benedict's was an incredibly wonderful environment to grow-up and learn in and I wouldn't have had it any other way. I loved my time spent at St. Benedicts and would recommend it to anyone. It's a loving nourishing environment you can't get from a public school. And they couldn't be too far amiss, as I am currently studying at a very prestigious university.

St. Benedict lacks diversity within its administration. Teachers, specifically, are needed to the demographics of the school.

As a parent to a 8th grader who has been here since preschool, I feel St.Benedict is the best choice I made for my child/children. We have a great student-to-teacher ratio and each and every child gets individual support. Although tuition is high, I know its worth it. Every day the children are learning something, finding a new hobby and making a better connection with the teachers. We have a great computer lab, music curriculum, and a huge library with accelerated reading. I truly think that unlike a certain feedback, St.benedict is a gem.

It is unclear how a parent in a prior review could state that academics is lacking. Most graduates of St. Benedict go on to be top students in their respective high schools. Obviously, they had a solid background. Tuition is high but it is a private school. The science curriculum has been updated and now parallels public school instruction. The school has an accelerated math program and accelerated reading program. Spanish has been added to the curriculum this year. There could be more parental involvement. As in any school, the same parents are always volunteering. There are lots of extra curricular activities such as sports, computer club, girl scouts, cheerleading, student council, and theater.

Overall the quality of academic programs are lacking, especially in science and math. Tuition is extremely high. Parent involvement is low. The director doesn't ask for feedback regarding academics or extracurricular activities.

St. Benedict School is a great school, the overall feeling in the school is family. They have a innovative computer lab, and a wonderful music teacher. The teachers are all very knowlegeable in their areas. There could be more parent involvement.
