St. Joseph High School Reviews

St.Joe's is a great school. People who don't like it has not been in it. The teachers are great and they are always there to help you. With the laptops, yes us students do find games, but a day later, the administration blocks it, it makes me then pay more attention during class. St. Joes is rich in diversity, really preparing me to the real world unlike Montini, or Nazereth. Nazereth and Montini are all rich snobs who compete with money. The new leadership class this year is really effective, explain a lot about being a leader that i didn't know.

St. Joseph has good, innovative ideas, but they seem to lack the leadership and initiative to follow up on many of their plans. Most teachers are excellent, however many of them leave after only a few years. A decent portion of the faculty seem to be oblivious to the problems that exist, another portion focuses on the unimportant things like fining students for not wearing their Id's, and the portion that does realize the areas that need improvement don't have access to the means to create that change.

St. Joseph High School has made a lot of changes within the last few years. Although change can be good, the quality of the school is plumeting to an all time low. Even though the latest tecnology can have superb educational applications, St. Joseph faculty, deans and teachers don't know how to control it. With such a diverse student body comes issues. Issues are not being dealt with in a professional manner. I have a student who attends St Joe's. So far, High School has been a bad experience. Students are getting away with harming one another. It's a fact that St. Joe's is not a safe place for a child. That's sad. The Principal and faculty better get a grip. All these changes mean that the staff better be ready and capable of handling the children when they are in their care.

St. Joe's is an excellent school. My son graduated from this school in '02 and I am looking forward to my daughter graduating next year when they go co-ed. The administration and faculty go way beyond their job titles to see that all students excell in what they do best. The students are always their main concern. The family atmosphere also makes it a great place to be. Students are not just a number but an individual, an extension of a happy, well adjusted family.

St. Joe's is not what it used to be. During my first 2 years (2002-2004), the focus was on Academics, Leadership, and Achievement. In Fall 2004, the laptops took over, and Academics went to the back-burner so to speak. There are many schools that have integrated the laptops into academics, but the principal and technology directory have taken education and trying to integrate them into the laptops. Students, including those in my graduating class, used the laptops for e-mail, games, music downloading, and instant messaging. Teachers didn't discipline students or forbade use of laptops because Technology Director made laptop use mandatory in many classes. Discipline and dress code enforcement has become very lackluster, and many famous, tenured, and excellent teachers have left due to current administration. When I went to college, I was not prepared for all the writing that was demanded. Writing Curriculum is almost non-existent and no library!!!!

well I do have a daughter that hopefully will graduate from there this year!!!well the schoo.is ok just pay your tuition and tell your kid to behave and parents dont get smart with faculty and youll be o.k!!

St. Joseph is a school that boasts about its laptop learning program and their ability to create leaders. Unfortunately, while these programs can be very beneficial they are instead leading the students away from academics. Students use the laptops to email one another and talk about the latest gossip, eventually overloading their email so that teachers cannot contact them through it as the original purpose. The leadership program has been a disaster in past years and many students see leadership time as a time to goof off and cause problems. While many teachers have made suggestions for change the administration does not seem to want to adjust to what they have to say. Right now the class sizes are overloaded and the students are not receiving the proper services that they need in order to succeed.

I graduated for St. Joes 1 years ago and for all the people who say that its not a good school have not actually attended! St. Joes has even gone as far as excepting girls. I was in the first one of the first girls to Graduate from what once was an all boys school. The councilors are great just to mention a few( Mrs. Finnegan, Ms. Napaton) And now Mr. Alderige is a councilors, so far all the changes that St. Joes have made are for the good of their students & faculty

I am sad to say St. Joseph is not what it once was. When I put my first son '97-00 there it was the best school possible. Focus on family, building friendships for life, mentors, guidance, then son 2 entered '03 and laptops took over. Staff doesn't care any more, issues are bigger. Son 3 will pick his high school but sadly it will not be St.Joe's

I love st. Joes! go chargers! great curriculum! student body is extremely representative of the 'real world'!!! love the kids that go there! i've hired 4 alumni after they graduated from the college of their choice!! (of course after graduating from st joes!)

Great school - Great teachers and Great programs for future college students.

They are not the best they are making parnets pay for computers, and books and they are rude! I hope you are rich, because all they want is your money. They are not great I wish my son and husband never picked St. Joes, I think for all the money we could find a better school. I drive a long way to get there for what? They are not as good as they tell you. I heard they were great at one time. Well time has changed so if your son can go to another school send him there instead of here!

As an Alumni of St. Joseph and having one child currently enrolled, and another that graduated two years ago, I can tell you St. Joseph is not the school it once was. Money is the key factor. Cooperation of the principal is 0. The science department needs all new teachers, they care nothing about the student. Consider other options before sending your son to this school.

I love the learning environment that is present at the Lasallian school of St Joseph. It features a variety of ethnic and diverse backgrounds which accounts for an atmosphere like no other in the area. Teachers are always there assist and help out the students at any time no matter what their level of learning is. To add to it's superiority it is also a extremely fun school with a great athletic department competing in one of the top conferences in the state of IL.
