Hello all! Listen, I have some BIG news. A very dear friend of mine, who is a head organizer of another popular Meetup group (some of you out there know him), had just recently asked a favor of me to post and co-host another one of his extraordinary major parties. Now...I've known this man for over 3 years now and that he has thrown some really fun & clever ones that do not disappoint. Take my word for it. Trust me. Have a look below at what will be in store for this new event. I say again....YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Here's his description of it. Check it out and ENJOY! Okay, you all know how much I love a good party. We're putting together a kick-ass 80's and 90's dance party on March 27th, and you're all invited! Bust out your big hair, your overalls, your flannel, and your day-glo dancin' shoes. Join us at 8 PM upstairs at Mullens on Clark- we've got their giant upstairs party room to ourselves, for great dancing and 80's/90's music the whole night! Don't worry about tightening your belts- drink discounts are in the works. And, to make things extra special, we'll be holding a Costume contest and a Dance contest! Who's got the coolest 80's/90's threads? Still have your baggy backwards jeans? Can you look just "like a virgin"? Who's the Freshest Prince? And let's not forget the dancing- breakin', the running man, cabbage patch? What have you got? Bring it on. Test your dancing mettle against anyone else who dares take to the dance floor. Oh, yeah, and there will be prizes. Good prizes. Coolness. Dance and costume contests will start around 11 PM. Come out and party, and support a the arts while you're at it! Cover for the 80's/90's dance night at Mullens is just $5, and the proceeds go to a fundraiser for Theatre Momentum, an improv theatre company with shows opening at the Emerald City Theatre School in May. You can meet and hang out with the cast, dance the night away with some fun people, and support live theatre, all at once. Can't beat that. Here's a Metromix blurb on Mullens, for those of you who've never been. It's got a huge upstairs bar for us to hang out and dance the night away. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION Mullens is on Clark Street, just a little South of Wrigley Field. Parking is difficult in the area, but there is a pay lot nearby. You can get there easily from the Red Line Addison stop, though. While things will officially start at 8, we'll be there the whole night, so don't worry if you are coming in a bit late.
