Artist Bio
Karma Grotelueschen is a nature photographer specializing in photographs of the native landscapes of Illinois and Wisconsin, photographing the beauty of woodland and prairie vistas and light as it intereacts with the changing details of woodland and prairie plants. As a block print artist and felt artist, Grotelueschen further interprets the images of the natural world into print abstractions and felted landscapes and florascapes that express the beauty of these natural wonders. Grotelueschen is co-owner of a co-op and consignment art gallery in Warrenville, Prairie Oak Artisans, and owner of an art gallery in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, Prairie Oak Artisans North. As a landscape desginer in the western suburbs of Chicago and the areas of Wisconsin southwest of Madison, Grotelueschen specializes in creation of outdoor living spaces that provide comfort and enclosure for people while using beautiful plants of the native ecosytems. Grotelueschen is a landscape design instructor at the Morton Arboretum, where aesthetic principles and ecological principles contribute stongly to her class presentations. Grotelueschen hopes that the beauty captured and protrayed in her nature photography and other media will isspire others to a greater love of the woodland and prairie of the natural world.
