Pitris (the fathers)are the spirits of the departed ancestors in Hindu culture. The word comes from Sanskrit Pitru They are often remembered annually. On the day of their remembrance some rice and clarified butter is offered to the crows who will according to myths fly it to the pitris and satisfy them Then you will always have your departed pitris watching over you with a favorable eye as in my painting.
